I have been blogging for a few years now. Mostly about yoga, but recently, there has been a change. or not a change, but a gradual inclusion of other aspects of my life.
My shamanic practice, my art, and my passion for the environment all used to have their own social media. Keeping it separate from allnewyogalife. However, it is becoming more and more apparent that they are not separate. In fact, they have become integral to one another.
I started my own yoga practice over 10 years ago, and as I have mentioned before, the change it made to my physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being inspired me to become a Yoga teacher. It also inspired me to look to other practices for help that I couldn’t find within modern medicine.
My first experience of shamanic healing came from working with Carol Day of Creative Earth Ensemble. It was one of those things where I kept seeing and hearing Carol’s name mentioned, and her courses kept popping up on social circles. I took it as a sign and signed up for her original Story Apprentice workshops. A beautiful course looking at all aspects of the power of story. The inner story of personal experience and the outer stories of myth, legend, and fairytale, that have been passed down through time, written or by word of mouth. Learning and experiencing how telling and sharing stories can be healing to the teller and the listener. This is what inspired me to return to writing my own stories, poems, and, of course, my blog.
Since that initial shamanic training, I have not looked back and have gone on to complete a few smaller courses, as well as a 3 year Visionary Shamanism Practitioner and a Shamanic Practitioner Teacher Training.
Although I am not running courses or offering healing sessions for now, my shamanic practice is part of my everyday life, through drawing, writing, how I interact with the world, and through my yoga teaching.
In fact, it has influenced everything I do, it is very like yoga, in that it is not just something I do, it is a way of living, a way of life and yoga and shamanic life merge easily.
Both life changing experiences have brought me back to nature and made me realise we are one with nature, not separate. We need to live with the land and not on it. This has encouraged my own creativity and has brought me back to making, drawing, and painting art inspired by nature, landscape, and story.
So, you can see everything is relevant, and I want to bring it all together onto my website and blog. Shamanic practice, Yoga, environmentalism, art, and writing. So please bear with me over the next couple of months as I update and change allnewyogalife into its newest version. I hope you like it!
